Blood Orchard Brewing Co.

Blood Orchard Brewing Co. is a brewery and taproom at the southern end of Wichita, set in the Blood Orchard country store, a general store-style building from 1885. Four generations of the Blood family have owned the building. Southern Wichita was once called the peach capital of the world, and Blood Orchard was one of the county’s most renowned orchards until salt in the groundwater killed its peach trees in 1984, ending more than 100 years of orcharding there. In 2015 the fifth generation began replanting on the same ground, starting with a small patch of test varieties. The farm now has more than 5,000 trees, including 13 varieties of peaches, seven of apples and five of cherries, plus sandplums. The brewery makes beer and hard seltzer, and the property hosts monthly vintage markets with local vendors, a food truck rally and private events.
