Transport Brewery

Transport Brewery is a craft brewery in downtown Shawnee that calls itself the city’s first microbrewery. Mike McVey, Jason Leib and Terrie Johnson founded it in 2018 and renovated a century-old building for the taproom. Operations manager Christie Jackson and partner Sean Greenwood joined before the doors opened in February 2019. The brewery’s theme is adventure and the journey, and its beers range from crisp lagers to hoppy IPAs and seasonal releases. The taproom is designed as a community hub for both casual drinkers and seasoned craft beer fans. Families and dogs are welcome, and the brewery hosts events and live music. Transport has since added a second taproom in Gardner to serve more of Johnson County. The owners say they hope to help shape downtown Shawnee’s future through good beer and friendships. The brewery’s emphasis on community runs through both of its locations.
